Our Story & Purpose

Pierce Street Gateway (PSG) is more than a preservation group; we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to revitalizing the historic heart of Lynchburg. By restoring the Calloway Store and its surrounding grounds, we are reclaiming a vital community hub for a new generation.

Our dual mission addresses both the past and the present. We work to honor the legacy of the Pierce Street Renaissance Historic District, while tackling food insecurity through innovative urban agriculture. Every brick we save and every seed we plant is an investment in our neighbors’ quality of life.

Through strategic advocacy and education, PSG weaves the stories of our district’s residents into a sustainable future. We invite you to join us in this renaissance, where history and community health thrive in tandem.

Organizational Goals

Study & Stabilize: Complete critical structural assessments of 1301 Pierce Street.

Preserve & Restore: Return the Calloway Store to its rightful place as a neighborhood landmark.

Create a Destination: Launch a central hub to drive neighborhood tourism and education.
